Understanding Proprietary Blends: What "Dose Undisclosed" Really Means
A proprietary blend lists every ingredient by name but discloses only the combined total weight, not how much of each ingredient is inside.
Quiet Nerves uses this format for five of its six ingredients — here is what that means and why it's worth understanding.
What a proprietary blend actually is
Quiet Nerves' Supplement Facts panel names six ingredients within a 575mg blend, but only breaks out the elemental magnesium content (80mg) individually. The other five — alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom, L-carnitine, turmeric extract and CoQ10 — share an undisclosed portion of the remaining weight.
Why this makes dose comparison impossible
Published research on ingredients like alpha lipoic acid or CoQ10 typically specifies doses in the hundreds of milligrams. Without knowing how much of each is actually in Quiet Nerves' blend, there is no way to know whether the formula approaches, falls short of, or exceeds those studied amounts.
Questions worth asking before you buy any blended supplement
Is the total blend weight disclosed? Is any individual ingredient broken out (as with the magnesium here)? Does the seller offer any additional dosing transparency beyond the label? We think Quiet Nerves' partial disclosure (magnesium only) is a modest step better than a fully opaque blend, but the core limitation remains real.
